Full Day ProgramRockford Preschool Program Full DayOur year long program for three & four-year-olds is ideal for working families. Our full day preschool is open from 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM and includes a variety of developmentally appropriate learning experiences in social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth areas and is geared to prepare young children for kindergarten. Other program features include field trips, planned outdoor & gym activities, rest time, breakfast, and snacks. Our well-trained staff are skilled in the field of Early Childhood and have earned a well-respected reputation in the community. Introduction to ScreenwritingAdult Enrichment and RecreationDo you love telling stories? Have you ever wanted to write a script for a movie? This course introduces the essential tools for crafting a compelling screenplay, including premise, structure, formatting, imagery, characters, and dialogue. We'll consider examples from professional scripts and brainstorm ideas for your own dramatic visual stories. No previous experience required - just an interest in visual storytelling!Instructor: Joshua Courtade is a prolific screenwriter, filmmaker, and educator from Grand Rapids, Michigan. He has written, produced, and directed dozens of short films, several web series, and eight independent feature films. Joshua is a co-writer for the upcoming horror film "Wounds", and has also produced commercials and promotional documentaries for the Grand Rapids Comic-Con. He has over 17 years of experience teaching college film, media, and writing classes, including courses at Calvin University, Grand Valley University, and Compass College of Film & Media. Kettlebell ClassAdult Enrichment and RecreationAges 13 & Up. Kettlebell AMPD is a group fitness format that takes heart-pumping music and kettlebell moves and combines them into an hour of calorie-torching fun! The program uses lightweight kettlebells, in both traditional and non-traditional ways, to create a fun, effective, full-body workout. Combining the benefits of strength training, functional movements, and cardiovascular exercise, this program is a safe and effective workout for all ages and fitness levels. No experience necessary! Kids PickleballYouth Enrichment RecreationGrades 2-5. Pickleball is not just for adults! With a smaller court and slower moving ball than tennis, pickleball is a perfect game for kids to learn and enjoy for life. Kids in this class will learn the fundamentals of pickleball, do fun pickleball activities, and play pickleball with friends. This is a great opportunity for kids to make friends, exercise, learn hand-eye coordination, and have lots of fun! Bring your own paddle or borrow one for the entire session for $5 (payable on the first day of class) Instructor Background: Kyle DeBoer teaches math at Rockford High School. He loves pickleball and has played since high school. In addition to his pickleball experience, Kyle played tennis in college and has taught tennis camps for elementary school through high school. Lakes ElementaryBefore and After CareBAC Registration The BAC Program (Before & After Care) provides quality care for RPS school-aged children in developmental kindergarten through fifth grade and is available every school day at all of our elementary schools. This program focuses on enhancing physical, intellectual, social, and emotional development, with recognition of individual interests and talents and promotion of the school as a safe and stimulating place. Table games, crafts, gym time, outdoor play and an afternoon snack are planned each day. Note for parents of incoming Developmental Kindergarten (DK) students: When entering your child’s information, you will not see an option for DK under grade. Please select “Kindergarten” and choose “Fall 2027” from the dropdown menu next to the grade field. DK students attending Parkside should register for BAC at Valley View Elementary. DK students attending Edgerton Trails or Crestwood may register at either their home school or the school where they attend DK. Days & Hours The BAC program begins on the first day of the school year and ends on the last day of school. Morning BAC is available from 7:00 AM - 8:25 AM. Afternoon BAC is available from 3:30 PM - 6:00 PM. Care is available on early release days from 1:30 PM - 6:00 PM. Care is NOT available on district snow days. Tuition Information Rockford Before and After Care is a prepaid program. The BAC program is tuition based; it is not funded by Rockford Public Schools. We do not offer sibling discounts. Tuition is charged based on enrollment, not attendance, i.e., illness, vacation. If BAC is open, you will be charged if your child was scheduled to attend. Per Student Fees Non-Refundable Enrollment Fee: $40 per student (will be charged upon contract approval) There is no sibling discount Morning Session: $10 per day per child Afternoon Session: $15.00 per day per child Early Release: $20.00 per day per child Full Day BAC: $45.00 per day per child AM Delay of School Care: $13.00 per child A saved payment method will be required at registration. Learn American MahJonggAdult Enrichment and RecreationBegin to play American style MahJongg in a relaxed environment. We will discuss the history of the game, the game pieces and how to use them as well as strategies for play. Instruction includes the basic rules of play and using the MahJongg card (card provided) as defined by the National MahJongg League. We will also discuss winning play. This is a hands-on and enjoyable learning experience. Instructor Background: As an avid game player, Kathleen McFarlane enjoys teaching and playing MahJongg. She has been playing for six years and has truly enjoyed it. Kathleen loves teaching people to play this old but interesting game. There is a lot to learn to begin to play which is part of the fascination. It's an accomplishment for her to watch you learn to enjoy the game as well.Fall 2026
