Before and After CareBAC Registration will open on May 13th at 6 pm. Select "Create an Account" on the main page to create your account prior to registration. The BAC Program (Before & After Care) provides quality care for RPS school-aged children in developmental kindergarten through fifth grade and is available every school day at all of our elementary schools. This program focuses on enhancing physical, intellectual, social, and emotional development, with recognition of individual interests and talents and promotion of the school as a safe and stimulating place. Table games, crafts, gym time, outdoor play and an afternoon snack are planned each day. Note for parents of incoming Developmental Kindergarten (DK) students: When entering your child’s information, you will not see an option for DK under grade. Please select “Kindergarten” and choose “Fall 2027” from the dropdown menu next to the grade field. DK students attending Parkside should register for BAC at Valley View Elementary. DK students attending Edgerton Trails or Crestwood may register at either their home school or the school where they attend DK. Days & Hours The BAC program begins on the first day of the school year and ends on the last day of school. Morning BAC is available from 7:00 AM - 8:25 AM. Afternoon BAC is available from 3:30 PM - 6:00 PM. Care is available on early release days from 1:30 PM - 6:00 PM. Care is NOT available on district snow days. Tuition Information Rockford Before and After Care is a prepaid program. The BAC program is tuition based; it is not funded by Rockford Public Schools. We do not offer sibling discounts. Tuition is charged based on enrollment, not attendance, i.e., illness, vacation. If BAC is open, you will be charged if your child was scheduled to attend. Per Student Fees Non-Refundable Enrollment Fee: $40 per student (will be charged upon contract approval) There is no sibling discount Morning Session: $10 per day per child Afternoon Session: $15.00 per day per child Early Release: $20.00 per day per child Full Day BAC: $45.00 per day per child AM Delay of School Care: $13.00 per child A saved payment method will be required at registration. A $40 per student registration fee will be charged when your contract is approved. With the implementation of our new childcare portal, there have been updates to our scheduling and payment policies. Rockford Preschool Half DayChild Development Lab This program is located at Rockford High School and teaches preschoolers to become successful learners through cooperative experiences, problem solving and play, while training high school students enrolled in child development and life skills classes to become potential educators. Preschool children have many opportunities to learn independence, make decisions, develop creativity, and practice social and kindergarten readiness skills. The activities are planned with care using the High Scope curriculum. This quality approach to early childhood education has been developed through research and practice over 50 years in Ypsilanti, MI. Children must be 3 or 4 by September 1 of the current school year and completely independent in the bathroom. 3-year-old class runs Tuesday/Thursday 9-11:30 AM or 12:30-3 PM 4-year-old class runs Monday/Wednesday/Friday 9-11:30 AM or 12:30-3 PM Community Education Preschool This well-established program is held at the Rockford Public Schools Administration Building. This program helps children develop the ability to work and play together in an enjoyable group setting that utilizes a developmentally appropriate kindergarten readiness curriculum. Students are exposed to and practice social and cognitive skills with a focus on environmental topics. Classes are offered for children three and four years old. Children must be completely independent in the bathroom. All our staff are trained in early childhood, CPR and first aid. Children must be 3 or 4 by September 1 of current year. 3-year-old class runs Tuesday/Thursday 8:15-10:15 AM or 10:30-12:30 PM 4-year-old class runs Monday-Thursday 8:45-11:15 AM or 11:45-2:15 PM Montessori Preschool This program provides children with a comprehensive introduction to practical life skills, sensory development, language, math, science, cultural studies, art, music, and movement. Through hands-on activities, children cultivate key skills such as concentration, coordination, independence, and a sense of order, all within a nurturing, child-centered environment. Embracing the Montessori philosophy, the program incorporates a mixed-age setting, with 3- and 4-year olds learning alongside one another. Offered five days a week, this program ensures consistent growth and exploration, fostering a well-rounded foundation for young learners. Children must be completely independent in the bathroom. This program can be used in conjunction with Full Day Preschool Enrichment, if space is available. A separate registration is required for that program. Montessori Preschool runs Monday-Friday 8:30-11:30 AM or 12:00-3:00 PM Spanish This blended program is for three-and four-year olds. We introduce preschoolers to the Spanish language utilizing hands-on materials, games, songs, read alouds and movement activities. Each month focuses on a different theme for learning Spanish vocabulary, such as colors, numbers, animals, etc. Children must be 3 or 4 by September 1 of the current school year and completely independent in the bathroom. All our staff are trained in CPR and first aid. This program can be used in conjunction with Full Day Preschool Enrichment, if space is available. Rockford Preschool Program Full DayOur year long program for three & four-year-olds is ideal for working families. Our full day preschool is open from 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM and includes a variety of developmentally appropriate learning experiences in social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth areas and is geared to prepare young children for kindergarten. Other program features include field trips, planned outdoor & gym activities, rest time, breakfast, and snacks.
