Yes, You Can Draw!Adult Enrichment and RecreationJoin our beginner class and discover how easy drawing can be with the right techniques and practice. This class will feature instruction of two drawing methods along with shading and how to use a light source. Pencil and paper will be provided. No experience necessary. You will be surprised at what you can create. With practice, you'll learn techniques that can be transferred to many different drawing subjects and styles. Come give it a try! Instructor Background: Debby Reese is a self taught artist practicing her craft for over 30 years. She has taken art classes at Macomb Community College followed by classes at New York Botanical Gardens (illustration). She received more instruction at the Flint Institute of Art, Grosse Pointe Art Association and Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center. She has learned a variety of art applications from drawing to acrylic and watercolor painting, print making to pastels. She looks forward to sharing her passion while teaching others.Fall 2026 -

Youth Introduction to ScreenwritingYouth Enrichment RecreationAges 12-17. Have you ever made a short movie with your friends? A great movie starts with a great script! This course will help you take your stories to the next level by introducing the essential tools for crafting a compelling short screenplay, including premise, structure, formatting, imagery, characters, and dialogue. We'll look at examples of real short films and brainstorm ideas for your own dramatic visual stories. No experience required - just an interest in visual storytelling!Instructor: Joshua Courtade is a prolific screenwriter, filmmaker, and educator from Grand Rapids, Michigan. He has written, produced, and directed dozens of short films, several web series, and eight independent feature films. Joshua is a co-writer for the upcoming horror film "Wounds", and has also produced commercials and promotional documentaries for the Grand Rapids Comic-Con. He has over 17 years of experience teaching college film, media, and writing classes, including courses at Calvin University, Grand Valley University, and Compass College of Film & Media. We are also looking for a few adults to assist with the 7th- 8th-grade games. DK-6th games are played on Saturdays. 7th-8th-grade games may be on a weeknight or Saturday.
